Light Rail Challenge II

Join us for our Light Rail Challenge II – the newest edition of this popular series.  This new Challenge offers several walks along the recently expanded Light Rail lines.

See below for the criteria of the Challenge, instructions on how to purchase a book, and how to redeem your award after successfully completing the Challenge.

Stay updated about new qualifying walk events and other news on the What’s New tab.

To check out the qualifying walks, move your mouse up, and hover over the tab above, called “Light Rail Walk Series“.  You’ll see sub-tabs for North, East, and South.

Challenge Criteria:
1.  The Light Rail Challenge II starts January 1, 2025 and ends December 31, 2028.  However, you may complete and return the book within two years after the last sale date.  Patches for books received past the end date will be sent as long as they are available.  No refunds.  Participants must register for “credit”, and pay the “credit” fee for each qualifying walk.

2.  To qualify, a walk route shall start, and/or finish, and/or walk by, a Sound Transit Light Rail Station.  A route which only passes by a Station (i.e. route which does not start or finish at a Station), must pass along the same street as the Station entry; however it does not have to pass on the same side of the street as the Station entry. Walks may be Year-Round-Events or Traditional Events.

3.  Complete 15 AVA sanctioned events which meet the above qualifying criteria, and as follows:  Complete 4 walks in each of three regions: “North” and “South” and “East”, and complete 3 walks in any region, to be logged under the “Wildcard” category.  Example: after completing 4 walks in each of the 3 regions (for a total of 12 walks), the walker may choose to complete their 3 Wildcard walks all from one region, or may choose from a mix of regions.  If a route has Stations located in more than one region, the walker may select either region for their Challenge book (but cannot log the walk in more than one region).

4.  No repeat of qualified walks is allowed – participants shall complete 15 different walks.  Participants may choose any sanctioned route length (i.e. 5K, 10K, etc.), as long as that route meets the above criteria of starting / finishing / passing a Sound Transit Light Rail Station.

5.  As you complete AVA events, place the IVV certifcation stamp on the line for “Stamp”, then write the qualifier on the line for “Qualifier”.  The name of the Light Rail Station is the qualifier.  If the route passes more than one Station, only one Station
name is needed on the qualifier line, as selected by the walker.
