This walk passes through parks, several residential neighborhoods, commercial and historic Ballard, and the Chittenden Locks. An optional 6/7K route takes you directly to and from the Locks. You’ll walk across the Chittenden Locks, observing the lock attendants managing the locking of boats large and small between the Ship Canal and Puget Sound, and you’ll visit the fish ladder. Chittenden also features a good visitor center and beautiful gardens and grounds. You’ll enjoy views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
