This walk passes through parks, several residential neighborhoods, commercial and historic Ballard, and the Chittenden Locks. On the 7K and 10K routes, you’ll walk across the Chittenden Locks, observing the lock attendants managing the locking of boats large and small between the Ship Canal and Puget Sound, and you’ll visit the fish ladder. Chittenden also features a good Visitor Center and beautiful gardens and grounds. The 6K route takes you directly to the Locks and back but without entering the grounds. You’ll enjoy views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
