Our schedule for group walks in the region:
Most weekends, we walk together as a group, and you are welcome to join us! Please RSVP to the host, or to Mike, if you are planning to attend, so that we can watch for you at the walk start location, and also so we can notify you if there are any changes. All participants shall register for the event by signing the athletic waiver, and pay $4 registration fee per walker. Please note – the walk date, location, and time are subject to change, and we will do our level-best to keep this webpage updated with current details. But if you RSVP, your host will contact you with changes. See calendar below, and further written details below that.
Sun., July 19 – East Main Light Rail. Meet at 10:00 a.m. Start location: East Main Station. 235 112th Ave. SE, Bellevue. Join us to explore “Old Town Bellevue” and the waterfront at Meydenbauer Bay, then onward for a mostly shady walk among tall trees in the neighborhoods south of downtown Bellevue. For detailed information click on East Main Station. Routes: 5K rated 2A, and 10K rated 3B. We will have stickers for your books, for those who register and pay in person at the start – $4 for all walkers (online start box is also available). Jane will be our host.
Fri. – Sun., July 24 – 26 – Island Hopping Weekend. Come join in for any or all of the fun walks which are featured over this three-day extravaganza! You may choose to book a hotel room in the area to enjoy all the walks this event offers, or you may choose to drive up for a day and do one of them (or, two on Sunday!). These events are hosted by the Olympic Peninsula Explorers walking club. Online registration for all events begins July 18. And, in-person registration will be available at the start locations and times, as listed below. All walkers pay $4 registration fee for each walk, plus fares on ferries for Friday Harbor and Guemes Island.
Fri., July 24 – Anacortes Tommy Thompson Trail. Meet at 9:00. Start location: The Market parking lot. 1519 Commercial Ave., Anacortes. Walk along sidewalks, gravel trails and a paved train trestle spanning Fidalgo Bay. You will see murals, trailside sculptures with many signs describing the local history. There have been views of Blue Heron and Eagles on the trail. The shallow waters are home to habitat for salmon and other fish and wildlife. Routes: 7K, 10K, both rated 1B.
Fri., July 24 – Anacortes Downtown & Waterways. Meet at 1:00. Start location: The Market parking lot. 1519 Commercial Ave., Anacortes. Walk along the Cap Sante Marina, to Cap Sante Viewpoint, over to the Guemes Channel passing boat works and historic Causland Park. Explore the quaint downtown with many shops and restaurants (5K does not go to Cap Sante). Routes: 5K rated 1A, and 10K rated 2B.
Sat. July 25 – Friday Harbor. Group will take the 8:40 ferry to Friday Harbor from Anacortes (2100 Ferry Terminal Rd.) Allow time to park and purchase tickets (no need to drive on the ferry – walk starts directly from the Friday Harbor ferry landing). The group will meet onboard in the galley. Walk along country roads with fabulous water views. The walk finishes through downtown Friday Harbor. The 5K stays in Friday Harbor business and residential districts. Routes: 5K & 6K rated 1A, and 11K rated 1B. Restrooms available on the ferry, and at ferry landing, but not on walk.
Sun., July 26 – Guemes Island. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at Guemes Island Ferry Parking. 518 K Ave., Anacortes (no need to drive on the ferry, this walk starts directly from the Guemes ferry landing). The guided walk is at 8:30, however, you can register anytime between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. and do the walk on your own if you wish. Pleasant walk on country roads and trails of little Guemes Island, just north of Anacortes. Routes: 5K, 10K, both rated 1B.

Sun., August 9. Historic Capitol Hill. Meet at 9:00 a.m. at the parking area near the Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park, at 1400 E. Prospect. St., Seattle. Diane Troyer is host. 5K and 10K routes, both rated 1A. For full details about the walk, including public transit options to the start location, click on Historic Capitol Hill. Registration for this walk is through the online start box, but Diane will have the stamp and registration sheet available at the start, if you wish to receive a physical stamp (instead of registering through the online start box). All walkers shall register and pay $4 registration fee.

Sun. August 23 – Edmonds Waterfront. Meet at 9:30 a.m. Start location: Harbor Square Athletic Club. 160 W. Dayton St., Edmonds. Enjoy beautiful views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Walk through city parks, along the marina, past the ferry terminal, and through downtown Edmonds. Some of the buildings you will pass include a 100 year old Church (North Sound), and a Museum with historic landmarks. Routes: 5K and 10K, both rated 1A. Mike will be our host.
Sat. or Sun., August 29 or 30 – Labor Day Worker Walk. For Club members only. Further information will be sent to our membership from Mike.
Sat., Sept. 5 – Labor Day Walk. Registration: 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Start: St. Alphonsus Family Center. 1415 NW 58th St., Seattle. Join us for our annual Labor Day Traditional Event, to explore evolving Ballard, including craftsman homes to condos/apartments, retail core to restaurant row, craft breweries and coffee shops, Ballard Commons, and the Chittenden Locks. All walkers pay $4 registration fee. We will be working at the event, but come meet us and say hello! Often, a group will gather at the registration table if you’d like to walk with a group. Routes: 5K and 10K, both rated 1A.
